Privacy can play a big role in how much you want to sit outside. Who wants to sit on a deck with neighbours watching us? So, in today’s blog article, we want to give you some privacy ideas that you could implement this year.
Vertical Slats
Whether you are building a new deck or renovating a deck that already exists, it is not difficult to add a privacy wall. These are frequently built of vertical wood slats that angle in such a way that the neighbour cannot see through them. Vertical slats allow air to pass through but block visibility. Just make sure the slats are well anchored so that wind cannot destroy them.
Trellis
A simple trellis can give you a lot of privacy. And if you want to make it more private, then plant something vining that will latch onto it. You can plant something annual like sweet peas or even cucumbers or something perennial like Clematis or honeysuckle. If you plant something flowering, then you will also have a feature that smells good and attracts birds and butterflies.
Anything Else
Really, anything can give you privacy. Use your imagination. A curtain can be hung during good weather and removed if the weather is inclement. A wall with a water feature would work and would also make the soothing noise associated with water. If you are building a new deck, talk to your builder during the planning stage to include privacy if you feel you need it in some areas.
